Randy Brown Motorsports Runs Hard in Minneapolis

Coming off a big win last weekend in Detroit, the Randy Brown Motorsports team were off to Minneapolis, Minnesota to the familiar Metrodome for the second stadium event of the season. In the week prior, Randy Brown came away with a huge freestyle win in Grave Digger, while Joey Parnell and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle put on a great performance himself. The two looked to keep the good momentum going in Minneapolis and were off to a strong start in Minneapolis. While Parnell was knocked out early in racing by Bounty Hunter, Brown had Grave Digger 19 running strong. In round one Brown took out Mechanical Mischief and then knocked out former teammate Alex Blackwell in round two. In the semi-finals Brown topped Maximum Destruction to move into the finals. The final round match up pitted Brown against a tough opponent in two-time racing champion John Seasock. Brown was quick off the line, but the front end pushed in the first turn giving Seasock the advantage. Brown had started to catch up but the back-end of the Grave Digger broke loose coming out of the turn, handing the win to Seasock.

Joey Parnell has been stepping up his freestyle game so far this year and Minneapolis was no exception. Parnell performed well in his over two minute run, building up throughout his freestyle. Highlights included a huge jump over the double, a great slap wheelie after jumping a van stack, and a good save after a bad rebound after a nice jump over the FMX landing ramp. Parnell closed out a solid showing with a good set of donuts which was good enough to finish third overall.

After coming up just short of a racing victory, Randy Brown didn’t waste any time getting the Grave Digger in flight during his freestyle run. Brown started off with a bit jump over the van stack. After a couple more jumps, Brown lined up for the FMX landing ramp and got some great air. Unfortunately, sometimes with huge air comes unwanted consequences, and the jump damaged the left front wheel. Despite a wobbling wheel, Brown continued on and hit the jammer stack, but the left front had all it could take and broke off. In typical Grave Digger fashion, Brown pushed onward but he ended up rolling over on the next hit. The short run wasn’t what Brown wanted but he impressed during his time out on the track, scoring a 16.

The next stop for Randy Brown Motorsports brings the team back east as they travel to Uniondale, New York’s Nassau Coliseum for four shows next weekend. Be sure to check out our schedule to see where else we’ll be this winter.
