Randy Brown Motorsports Victorious in Detroit

The Randy Brown Motorsports crew bounced back from a tough opening weekend in Trenton with a trip to Detroit, Michigan for the first of back-to-back major stadium Monster Jam events. After overcoming breakage on more than one occasion last weekend, the team made sure all their nuts and bolts were tight so both Grave Digger and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle were 100% before they arrived at Ford Field. The day started off with the pit party as thousands of fans flocked to the floor of Ford Field to meet Randy Brown, Joe Parnell, and the other starts of the sport. After many autographs and photos it was time for the trucks to take to the track. The competition started off with racing where both Parnell and Brown would meet up in the first round, with Brown taking the win. Round two saw an early exit for Brown though, as he and Grave Digger would fall to Samson.

In freestyle, Joe Parnell and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set the early pace in freestyle with a strong performance. Parnell built up momentum throughout his run as he continued to get more aggressive with each jump, including some high speed passes over the racing lanes, a great vertical sky wheelie over the vans, and even a big crossthread over the bus stack towards the end of his run. Parnell picked up a score of 21 and tied for the early lead.

After 14 other trucks took to the track in freestyle, Randy Brown and Grave Digger had a tall task ahead if they were to take a freestyle victory, but Brown proved why he’s one of the sports winning-est drivers in freestyle every year. Brown stormed straight out of the pits and over soared over the van stack and then over another to start off his run. The blistering start continued on as Brown flew the Grave Digger all over the course. In the last 30 seconds of regulation time, Brown launched the Grave Digger skyward with a massive sky wheelie over the bus stack, and then followed it up with another leap over the van stack. In bonus time Brown started working the crossthreads before a crossed up leap over the bus stack put the truck on its side. Brown put the truck in reverse to try and bring it back over but was unable to. After a fantastic run, Brown emerged to the roar of thousands of fans cheering and was awarded a score of 26 in regulation and 4 in bonus time for a total of 30. The score would be just enough as Brown defeated Maximum Destruction by just one point for the victory.
